Hey Curtis,
just cruising your blog again and digging it..... spent the day yesterday in Oceanside at the beach and living in Ocean Beach is making me realize how much SoCal is going to deteriorate in the next 20 years of my life..... gotta convince my wife we need to go when I turn 50 in 4 years.
Have you had to access the medical system there yet? I am curious about peoples experiences with it since when I move I will have 9 year old twins.
Saludos,
Frank

Hey Frank

Thanks for checking it out!

The medical system in Panama is very good especially in comparing to it's neighbors throughout central america.

I have a friend in the army who is a paramedic on helicopters and he just did a tour of the 6 major hospitals in Panama City and he told me the hospital in Paitila is one of the best hospitals he has ever been to.

There is a hospital about an hour and ten minutes from us called hospital chiriqui and they have great care. For about $220 a year you get 90% paid through that hospital on anything they do.

For $204 a year you can get life flight insurance for a family of 5 in the same household. If it is a life threatening emergency they will be in the air in 10 minutes and fly you to any hospital in Panama.

The care is very good especially with the large amount of foreigners moving into the country.

Blue Cross Blue Shield is available in panama...try a search with them for some basic rates etc.

If you can afford to keep a U.S. plan that doesn't do much for visits, but covers major illness that would be a good idea for comfortable back up.

There is a Johns Hopkins Medical Center in Panama City as well.

The marina project near us is trying to put in an emergency clinic and basic medical services with there project as well. Heresay for now but?

Talk to ya soon Frank!

Keep the dream alive bud.

Also, I think by the time you came down the Private school system will be more available as well
